Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
